Canadian Tamil Medical Association (CTMA) joins many other professional and civic organizations in expressing our strong condemnation over the recent incidents of violence against the Black community in the United States of America. On behalf of the medical and allied health community of Tamil Canadians, we sympathize with the loss of lives as well as the physical and emotional turmoil this violence has led to.
Since inception, CTMA has recognized and supported Sri Lankan Tamils affected by systematic discrimination and traumatic violence in their own land of birth for decades. We stand strong in our commitment to our guiding principles of respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion. We will advocate against any form of discrimination in our ongoing efforts to improve the health and well-being of all. CTMA will take measures to promote inclusion through open discussion and education on racism.
